cant shut pc down from mandrake 9.1
having another problem with mandrake 9.1..when ever i try to log out.or reboot...or just shut down pc..the screen goes black..theres no shut down menu or anything..screen just goes black and pc dosent shut down..only thing i can do is unplug it and start it up again..but then i have to do a file check to fix the unclean shut down..ive changed bios settings..turned of plug n play..it didnt make a difference.. is there some detting i have to adjust??power managment??went in and disabled screen saver and power managment but dosent help..why wont mandrake shut down and shut down cleanly?? is there a setting i have to adjust or what??

are you shutting down from a gui or console. Try shutting down from console and redirecting the output to a file so you can see what is going on.

shutdown -h now > shutdown.log

If from gui,try hitting Ctrl-Alt-Backspace to see if that does anything.
