SuSE v8.2 Question About CD Playback
KsCD and XMMS don't seem to see or play audio cd's (I've tried ones I've created, and purchased cd's). My sound card detects fine, and I do have audio (testing and incoming email sounds) However, when I try "Multimedia/CD/KsCD" nothing opens. XMMS does open; however, prompts me for the file, and doesn't allow the F or G drive where disposable media is.

I must be doing something incorrectly...

I've recently (last night) installed SuSE v8.2, and speak of disposable media; nothing saved locally - that's next Help sincerely appreciated.

Thanks, G.

Try this;
Right click on the XMMS player, and select ->options -> Preferences
On the Audio I/O Plugins, select Input Plugins -> CD Audio Player 1.2.8 ->
click on configure -> under the Play Mode selct Digital audio extraction.
Clicking on the "check drive" button gives an error message. Ignore this for
the moment. Not sure this matters, but enter the device and directory details
to match the settings on the PC. Click the "OK" button and then the "APPLY"
button on the Preferences dialog box. For information the Output Plugin
selected is ALSA.
