okay I installed mandrake, here are the problems that is: some error isnstalling packages linbpango1.0_0-1.2.5-2mdk.i586 and then later erro installin packages libORBit 2_0-2.8.1-1mdk.i586, anyway i click continue anyway and once it is installed I check verbose mode during booot up and everything is okay except Bringing UP Interface eth0... I get [FAILED].. But it boots up still and interface loads and everything but some options such as configure your machine, and all the network programs and web browsers and some other **** wont work... and then again some options such as configure desktop DO work, so I am stumped, can I get some help?

The install process should have identified your NIC and loaded the
proper module at boot time. What is your NIC? Do '/sbin/lsmod', see
what modules are loaded, then 'modprobe' the proper driver, 'ifconfig
eth0' up and you're in business. Read man urpmi to find out how to
deal with your dependencies. Or better yet, google urpmi and stop
off at the Penguin Liberation front. (plf.zarb.org)
