Symbolic Link(Removal)
If I wanted to delete a symbolic link, where would I find it and how can I delete it. The link I want to remove is:-

ln -s /usr/java/j2sdk1.4.1_02/jre/plugin/i386/ns610/libjavaplugin_oji.so

Or do I just delete lthe file: -

ibjavaplugin_oji.so

Any help I can get is very much appreciated

If you delete the file, you will delete the symbolic link, unless it is a hard link.

I may have misunderstood your question, so feel free to disregard at will ...

A symbolic link is nothing more than another name for a file (i.e., the same file can be referenced by two or more different names). You can delete the symbolic link using the rm command, just like any other file. For example, if the file /usr/bin/gack is a symbolic link to the file /bin/blort, you can delete the symbolic link by using the command rm /usr/bin/gack. Note that this does NOT remove the original file; /bin/blort will still remain. If, however, you wish to remove the file pointed to by the symbolic link, you should remove BOTH the file and the link; if you do not remove the link, you will have a "broken" link that points nowhere (doesn't actually cause problems, but is definitely messy).

Hope this helps.
