this is my first time i have tried to install linx. I can get to the boot selector and choose either version of red hat. It goes thougha nd checks everyhting alright, and after it finishes checking it goes to a small X in the center of my screen over an all black background. I dont know if its a monitor problem. I selected my monitor from the hardware list during the install. Anyone, any help?

Redhat 9.2 does'nt exist. Perhaps RH 9? Mandrake is the only distribution I know of with a 9.2 edition.
When you get the black screen with the X cursor, can you move the mouse around? Are you sure you chose the correct monitor?
At the screen with the X, try pressing Ctrl-Alt-Backspace to restart the X server. That might get you a login screen.
