Error when installing mandrake 9.0
Hi

I am trying to install mandrake. I get as far as setting up the gfx card. I am using an S3 trio64v2/dx card and i am trying to run it on XFree 4.2.1

When i test the setup, the screen goes blank for a few seconds and then an error message comes up that says

Caught signal 7. Server aborting. Try to change some parameters.

I have tried changing the gfx card memory size, the gfx card model, the screen resolution and color settings and the monitor resolution and refresh rate, but the error comes up every time.

Does anyone know what this error actually means and how i might be able to get it working.

Signal 7 is either bus error(SIGBUS) (bad memory err,) or more likely SIGEMT.
"SIGEMT is not specified in POSIX 1003.1-2001, but neverthless appears on most other Unices, where its default action is typically to termi- nate the process with a core dump"

Try installing all text, then set up X by hand. Its not hard, once you get the ropes.
