Unhappy networking in Fedora RedHat Help!

I have fedora installed, and cannot reach the network... I did however for one session manage to connect, then after the restart it wouldn't connect...

to get connected, I did a lot of point and click configurations. I deleted all the network devices and let the connection wizard find them again... It worked and I was happy... But then after the restart it wouldn't connect again, and I am unable to follow the same steps to get it connected...

Original symptom was unable to assign address in DHCP so I tried static ip from my Linksys using the same settings as my windows machine... it accepted it and activated but I was then unable to ping out to anything, including the gateway... and I switched my network card to the 3c900 boomerang configuration, switched it back to DHCP then when I activated it, it worked... but like I just said, only for one session... as soon as I rebooted it was gone...

If I get it up again, I will save settings when I reboot...

I am going to continue trying but I will check back for answers often...

I would really like to get my network back up!

Does anyone have some good instruction for me?

Thanks a ton...

in a console just type in dhcpcd eth0, if it says the file exists already, delete and re run it. That should get you up and running (basically it makes a call to the dhcp server to give a ip address to the eth0 card)

welcome to the forum.......

i use a linksys bfsr41 and have no trouble accessing the network...
my linksys is configured in this manner..DHCP if the client box is configured that way and the assigned address will be 192.168.1.200 or higher

if i configure the client box to be static i use any address between
192.168.1.2 and 192.168.1.199

the gateway is always the default 192.168.1.1

works fine with debian...either way...

Most Linksys cable/DSL router admin interface works like this:
Internet Setup
This section lets you set up dhcp to get an automatic IP for the internet or let's you manually configure a static IP if your provider give you one.
Network Setup
This section let's you change the router's IP (not a bad idea) and sub-net mask. Here, you can also enable or disable the local DHCP server.(I disabled this feature so ssh would behave )
