Its a matter of personal preferance and philosophy. More features is not always good. the original mozilla suite is a good example of this. The initial reason gnome was started was because KDE was not free at the time. It is now, however many people have grown attached to gnome. Gnome is also making siginificant inroads in the area of Human Interaction Guidlines, and accessablility. KDE is a stunning desktop, however i do enjoy gnome.

hmm interesting articles.

I'm a gnome user. I started out on kde but decided i din't like it because well frankly it reminded me too much of windows...course thats a personal preference.

I'm still looking for a nice little write up about how to add a WM to the startup gdm/kdm (course i use gdm) Of all the ones i've seen they only seem to be a half guide. I've sorta wanted to get away from using Metacity perhaps and try something like sawfish. A slightly lighter but still featured Wm, without having to change the default...at least until i know i like it ^.^
