I have my ethernet connection set up on a newly installed Red Hat 9 OS, but when I try to use the web, I am redirected here . Any ideas on what the problem might be? Or is the most likely problem that the network just doesn't like linux? I messed around with the firewall settings, not knowing what else to do, but that did nothing at all.

It's probably because the Uni network is looking for a Windows installation or a specific web browser and when it doesn't find it, it redirects you to that page.

Miami obviously dislikes your setup. the way I would reccomend doing it, if possible, is running the connection through a router (one that will work with their connection; as your tech department). this would mean your RH box never directly touches their network, and should play nice.

To rockn: It didn't work even when I used Konquerer and told it to identify as IE 6 on XP...

To whiteskin: routers are forbidden here...

I gues we weren't much help. Best bet: Talk to your IT guys. If they are anything like the IT guys i've met, they'll praise you for running linux, and tell you how to get it working.
