Exclamation Knoppix and a TVTuner Card
All right here is the skinny... I have installed Knoppix STD onto a hd and now don't have to worry about booting from a cd. I REALLY like this distro... and if you havn't tried it you just gotta... to many toys to mention here.

Onto the problem I have install a TV Tunner (ATI TV Wonder Pro) PCI card into the system, but have NO clue as to how to...

1. Get the OS to recgonize.
2. Watch the TV. (Need an App)
3. Possible record the incoming signal. (DVR style...)

I have been all over the net looking for how to's but havn't found anything that seems to help. I am not looking for anyone to hold my hand here I just want a pointer or two to steer me in the right direction.

first off ati support for linux is attrocious. If you expect the tv capture card to work like it does in windows, dont. Give that thought up now.

http://gatos.sourceforge.net/

that's the ati tuner card site that deals with them. You might get lucky, you might not. Just try it and you'll learn a lot about how critical good drivers are from the company who holds its information to itself.

Though, apparently their support is getting better. It's just still nowhere near as good as Nvidia.

I use the opensource ati drivers I get better stability and performance on a opensource backward engineered partially complete driver, then a closed source binary by the company who makes the cards.....
