print notifcation icon
i have made several debian sarge installs on many different boxes all with same hardware...however some of them display a small printing icon when the printer is in use and others do not....i cannot figure out what i am omitting when this does not display....the printing works fine however

debian sarge (testing) 2.6.8 kernel with gnome 2.8....
i have made much research and for a while thought i solve the problem by installing hal and udev but this did not work...
