ok heres the problem. i have a crystam somthing sound card and it is listed in the list of sound card supported. its plug and play but when it finds it the application freezes. is there any way i can configure conf.molules manualy?

here is all the info on my sound card

DMA=1
DMA=3
Irq=5
I/o= 0534-0537
I/o= 0388-038B
I/o= 0220-022F

Mpu IRQ=11
Mpu I/O=0300-301

now i have tried sndconfig --noprobe
and sndconfig --noautoconfig as well
is there any way you can tell me exactly what i need to type into the conf.modules file? thank you very much

Have you turned PNP OS off in the BIOS?

Some plug and play cards won't work unless this feature is disabled in the BIOS.

If it is in fact disabled, what point does sndconfig freeze at exactly? Using the IRQ, DMA, etc? You may just have a hardware conflict that sndconfig's not happy about.

ok the application freezes right after it lists the card that it found. When you hit ok it just freezes. The only way to get out of it is to hit Cntrl+alt C. The pnp bios is off as well. And i think i have the modem figured out. I just had to get the DNS ip addys.

Glad to hear about the modem.

Now, if it freezes when it detects the card, is there a way you can []not[/i] detect it, but select it from a list instead?

That'd be my first choice.

Yet when it plays a sound the first time in a while it makes a pop sound from the speaker? do you know why it would do this? After it plays the sound once and i play it once more it sdoesnt pop. but if i wait for about 3 seconds it will pop again when i play the sound wave? Im stumped
