I once had Linux installed but, due to a defective video card, lost all my data. I installed another card and a larger (13g) HD. It took several weeks to realize that I did not have a Linux compliant card (one that complies with XFree86). I have now replaced the card with one that does comply.
I have 6G Win98 programs installed on the Hard drive. I tried to partition the drive using Partition Magic 5.0 but although the Linux swap partition and the root partition were created, the program will not install. Although I have RED HAT, I read in a Caldera manual that the Linux partition must start on a cylinder below the 1024th. How do I do this. Seems like it is a snap if you are installing on a new disk but the a half full disk of windows there does not appear to be any examples in the Linux help web sites.

With Partition Magic can't you move the window's partition and make a small partition for the Linux boot loader? I'm not sure I've alway's just put it on a separate disk. I'll give it a try and get back to you. If you find a way to do it post back here. I'll do the same,

Cheers,
