If you are willing to wipe the hard drive, what's stopping you from getting started?

About the bootup process, you can use NT's bootloader for both OS's if you use a third party utility like 'Bootpart' at http://www.winimage.com/bootpart.htm

If I were you I would wipe my drive and start experimenting. You'll learn more than you think when you have to solve the unexpected problems...

Good Luck
