I went to pcguide.com and learned that my 5x86 is esentially a 486 so I'm a little clearer on that. The next question on my list is... Do I want x window installed on my machine? I dunno. John

Yeah, I'd say go ahead and install it, if you've got the hard drive space. As long as youuse a lightweight (read: doesn't use lots of system resources) Window Manager, such as Blackbox or Windowmaker, even, you should be fine.

I wouldn't recommend KDE, KDE2, or Gnome, though...
