linux on old laptop
what version of linux can i put on an old 486/33 mhz toshiba sattelite. its only got a floppy drive to install from(how would i go about doing this?) .i only want it capable of playing mp3;s and hooking up to my network.

not sure. i cant seem to load the bios to check it out. i hit the power button and all it says is operating system missing. i can boot from a dos boot disc however, i cannot do anything from there....

is there something im missing to get into the bios?

it says its a T1910/200
model number PA1114U

there is no onboard sound, so all i need it to do is backup my documents, pics, etc

and i need to load from a floppy drive, no usb or cd

Well, DamnSmallLinux is 50mb (I think) and if you put it on floppys it would take 34.722 1.44mb floppys to load it - Let us know when you get done!

After posting I found this link with many really small Linux distros http://www.linuxlinks.com/Distributi...Distributions/ and I mean some small ones!

how do i go about mounting this .iso to floppy discs? drag and drop? will that put the proper files needed on disc 1?

I've never done it so I don't really know. But I think that you could get a version of Linux already on floppies from the link I provided...
