Development help
I'm fluent in VB6 and have just switched to SuSE linux. What software does SuSE provide for development? Any BASIC or something like it? How about IDEs, not just command-line compilers? Any help would be great. Thanks.

the closest probably to VB is bash scripting. Beyond that you have python ruby, java, C# (via mono) C++ etc. I don't know of all the IDE's for linux offhand, know there are some there

Please, specifics! Where do I get these? Is it a package that I need to install, or does SuSE come with them? I'm a total newbie to Linux and need some very slow-paced directions. I'd like to program SOMETHING but can't. Please don't just list off your favorites, tell me how to install/launch them. Please help. Thanks for your replies.

KDevelop and QT comes with KDE package.
GTK+ (glade) is usually packaged with GNOME package.
You have do download and install mono yourself.

Most of these will be on your Distributions CD's. Just use YAST to install them on SUSE.
