Knoppix!
Due to the recent crashing of my computer, I have had to use Knoppix Live CD. Though I understand very little about Knoppix, it has been a great tool. There is only one problem, I am using 3.7....and I need to delete, cut, and rename files. For some reason it is not allowing me to do any of these, because I do not have access or permissions. Can someone please explain how I do this? Also, I am a geek/geek-in-training, but I only understand so much lingo...so speak in stupid terms for me.

I know that there was a problem with NTFS access with one of the earlier 3.8 versions. I don't know if 3.7 included the flaw, but you may want to get 3.9 while it is available---it is the last CD-only version to be released and it definitely does not have any NTFS access problems.

Though I don't remember the details, the permissions were fairly easy to modify in the context menu, no?

Your hard drives should show up on the Knoppix desktop.
Right click on the drive, and choose Mount.
Once its mounted, you should be able to double-click the drive and mess with the files.

You might try brendandonhu's being sure that you mounted the partitions with 3.7 before you do all that downloading (unless you just want 3.9 anyway).
