Solved: cdrom not a valid block device
i installed redhat 7.2 on a compaq presario 1220 laptop. when i try to mount the cdrom it tells me "mount: /dev/cdrom is not a valid block device". how can i fix this.

Please post the output from the following command (issued from the command line):

ls -l /dev/cdrom

and we'll go from there. Hope this helps.

thanks for replying. i fixed the settings on the sound card and now everything works fine. thanks anyway. i don't know why it fixed, I'm still reading up on that. thanks again
