Question Lilo?
Hi, ALL

Long long ago, I installed Linux for trial on a Notebook running on original Win98.

Now I see the LILO for a while... but I don't know how to proceed?
I forgot everything about it: root? password?

Please help me to enter there and see what still remains: it must be Mandrake 6 or 7.

Many thanks in advance***

With that old of a version of Mandrake I would suggest upgrading to a newer version.

Exclamation Yes, but...
Thank you, SquashMan

I'm not able to remember any more what to do after the LILO

Could you help, please: is there a WAY to enter, anyway?

Or have I to delete that partition,
since I have Win98 on the Notebook too?

best regards,

zehelmer

Usually, LILO presents you with a menu of boot options (e.g., Linux, Windows 98, etc.) and you select which operating system you wish to boot. If you only have one operating system installed (presumably Linux (), LILO should boot that operating system and present you with a login prompt. If you see a login prompt, LILO has done its job, and is finished.

Many Linux distributions ship with no password for the root login. If you see a login prompt, try typing "root" (without the quotes) for the username and then enter a carriage return (the "enter" key or possibly the "return" key) when prompted for a password.

You should not have to delete any partitions.

Hope this helps.

Do you get a prompt like this?:
boot:
If so, try typing linux and if you then get this:
login: (with a flashing cursor, maybe)
Then do as codejockey suggests.
