Oh for goodness sakes how hard can it be ?

I want to copy a file to the /usr/src folder (I'm trying to install my modem). When I try to drag and drop I get the message "You do not have permissions to write to this folder".

I've tried the text approach using the "cp" command.....with similar results.

How do I get around this?

If anyone has any suggestions, baby language please. I'm so green when it comes to Linux I called my version "tophat" yesterday, instead of "redhat".

You need to be logged in as root or use the SU command to become root
