Can anybody teach me how to alter, delete, write files on a windows box from a linux box since everytime I will create a new folder or delete files or edit them, I usually end up with a message: Access denied...

Account used on the Windows XP side is Administrator and on Redhat9 Linux is root.

There are no good Linux NTFS file system drivers. Though you can read files easily from NTFS partitions, you can't write to them (and erasing is a writing process). Some of the most recent Linux drivers attempt to write to NTFS and have some success, but the drivers are not perfected and you risk corrupting the drive to the point where it is irrecoverable.

Capture-ntfs is the latest attempt ( that I know of) for gaining write access to ntfs via Linux. I have heard that if you run service pack2 you need to roll that back to spk1 for capture-ntfs to work properly.

I just installed Fedroa Core 4 [in server mode with all the goodies], and I am able to make a folder to a Windows Share and copy files back and forth.

Since I am a newbe to Linux I am not sure if this feature is new to Fedora Core 4.

It's networked via a wireless router and my wireless notebook with the FC4 on it is seeing a share on my WindowsXP home computer.

Samba would be the way to go. You can easily join a linux box to a window workgroup and read and write files back and forth with samba.

There's no problem accessing the NTFS files over a network---the native operating system is still providing the access. The problem arises when a non-native operating system needs to have drivers to access the files on a local disk.
