Strange thing is happening. I suspect that my domain hoster (godaddy) does not permit retrieving email in UNIX like shell. I say this because I have gone over the settings multiple times using the same info that I use in Outlook or Thunderbird and continue to get responses in Pine 4.58 of "authorization failed" or "Pop3 connection broken as response" or "no folder is opened".
Here are my Pine settings
- user-domain: mydomain.com
- smtp-server: smtpout.ABCserver.net
- inbox-path: {mail.mydomain.com/pop3/user=default}INBOX
Here are my Outlook settings
- email address:
default@mydomain.com
- account id:
default@mydomain.com
- POP server: mail.mydomain.com
no SSL required, port 110
I tried (successfully) with a hotmail account using these pine settings:
user-domain = hotmail.com
inbox-path = {pop3hot.com/pop3/user=myuserid}INBOX
anyone know of a workaround with passwords or settings for Unix type mail on godaddy hosted accounts? thanks in advance, scott
