Well, Linux and 98SE are coexisting on my hard drive happily. Thank you all for your help with my MANY questions over just the past week.

Now I have two more questions. My video is a bit shy of perfect. I have a Dell Inspiron 7500 which uses an ATI Rage Mobility P w/8MB ram. The Red Hat Linux 7.0 install found it fine and I was able to easily get everything running. When I went into Linux for the first time I noticed that the setting was at 640x480 and the color depth was pretty low, too. I edited the /etc/x11/XF86Config-4 file near the bottom where it says Section "Screen", Subsection "Display" Depth 8 Modes "640x480" to say "1280x1024" instead, but the depth or bits (ya know, 8 bit, 16 bit, 24 bit, 32 bit) is off. For a second when the Red Hat wallpaper comes up right before you can type your username it looks great, then the color fades and all. Any ideas how to fix that problem?

Lastly, my NIC seems to be working fine. It's picking up a DHCP address and I can ping the world, but when Linux is first loading I notice a message about bringing up interface eth0 and right after it it says delaying initialization eth0 and then FAILED in all caps and red color. Like I said, everything seems to be working fine but if I can get it to work 100% right that's what I'd like to do.

Thank you for all of your help and patience in these newbie Linux endeavors!!!
