Solved: Firefox, Java and Mandriva06
I will put it as simply as I can. It doesnt work. I KNOW I got java installed. Went to the version suggested by Mozilla site. I ran the RPM. I still dont have java support. Could someone give me a step by step so I can see what I am doing wrong?

You need to properly link in the java library. Locate where libjavaplugin_oji.so is at. You didn't specify the version of java; on my system it is in /usr/java/j2re.1.4.2_06/plugin/i386/

In that directory there are three subdirectories; which you use depends on your system, but the library is in there.

Once you have found it, go to your firefox directory (probably in /usr/lib but maybe in /usr/local/lib and then go into the plugins subdirectory.

In that directory, make a link to the libjavaplugin_oji.so library. Link it, don't copy it. Then your java will work.

Sorry for taking so long to reply. With everything going on the last few weeks I havent had time to work on my computer

Alright, I have made a link to libjavaplugin_oji.so in my firefox plugin directory. Firefox still says java is not installed

EDIT>Never mind, I linked the wrong file . It works now. Thanx
