I cannot seem to get any window manager to be the right size, what I mean by that is whenever I start a WM (gnome, fvwm, etc.) the screen is HUGE!, nothing fits on it at all, the toolbar is huge, the icons are huge, all the windows go off the monitor, and whenever I click the menu bar, it extends off of the bottom of the screen.....I have tried running xf86config, and changing the size to everything between 600x400 to 1600x1200, and everything is still HUGE! I am a major newbie and just installed it the other day, I am really confused

huge pixels
even the pixels are HUGE, it is really terrible because I can't run anything, do I have to delete this?, it took me hours to download it!! I also noticed when I quit X that the text above the prompt (where it has all the notes the server made) it says something about the virtual screen being set to 300x200 or something like that.....could that be the problem? and if so, how do I fix it? DOESN"T ANYONE KNOW?!?!?!?!

What type of video card are you using? Are you certain that you chose the correct X Server for your video card? What distro are you using? Let me know and I'll see what I can dig up for you.

I am not totally sure what video card I have (I know that this is probably why I can't fix the problem), I have an emachine 633ids........here is the url for the info page at the emachines website: http://e4me.com/infocentral/product_etower633ids.html
I don't know if the info is there, but I am not totally sure, I have tried all the servers, and I used a generic VGA driver.
