where can i get linux free of charge?
i would like to give linux a whirl if i can find someplace willing to give my a copy free and without shipping charges. thanks

You can simply download a distribution of linux at websites like:
http://www.linuxiso.org
http://www.distrowatch.com
Rather than actually getting a physical copy.

i tried that shipit site but it's been at least a month and i haven't got anything! and also i have dial-up so downloading is out of the question.

My only idea is downloading a smaller sized one overnight?
Damn small linux is incredibly small and can be used as a live cd as well as a full o/s.

It takes awhile for Ubuntu to ship to you. They'll get there eventually..

I belive Ubuntu is Located in South Africa, so it might take a while. But I could be wrong. I got mine in about 6 weeks.

I downloaded DSL with dial-up , it took about five hours and you need a cd burning utility if you read the the wiki in DSL there's a link to download record now
