Hello. I have a Compaq presario 7594 with 64 MB of RAM, about 8 GB of space, and a clock speed of 533 MHz. I am wondering if Linux-Mandrake will work on my computer. I am pretty sure I have a pentium 2 processor. Any information will be helpful.

Before you install, try to find out the exact specifications of your hardware, what video card, sound card, modem, etc., and make sure they are linux compatible (they almost surely are, except maybe the modem, but it always helps to know what you have to make sure it is being detected right)

the distro you use has EVERYTHING to do with whether or not your hardware is detected properly. SuSE has the best hardware detection around, but the base install is about 2gb. Red Hat and Mandrake both have very good detection also, but they're pretty big too.

I'd go with mandrake 8.0 (if you haven't already chosen one), it's really easy to get started on and lets you get your hands dirty without having to reinstall a dozen times.

Okay. Well, I just got Red Hat Linux 6.1. Actually, I do have Mandrake, but it is Linux for Windows. It just has the Mandrake distrobution. Thanks anyway!
