Linux Minimum specs?
Reading this first may help you understand the meaning of this topic.

I think it's a pretty low spec mobo/CPU. Would a Linux OS run on it but still connect tot he internet using a USB modem and network it to my main computer?

Hello there.

By your linked post, it sounds like you want to use that older PC as a router. I have heard a lot about Endian Firewall. My uncle uses it, and he said it is quite powerful. It is a Linux distribution made to be a router/firewall. The only thing, though, is that I am not sure the older system meets the hardware requirements. It's something worth checking into, though.

HOpe this helps.

Take care.

Sorry to dig up old threads, didn't see this one had a reply.

Thanks! BUT I have been forced to change ISP and they are sending me a free router later this week. I'll look into it anyhow, looks interesting. If anything I can sell it to someone who needs one!

Thanks again.
