Removing Ubuntu
I currently have Ubuntu 6.06 LTS installed as the only OS on my desktop. However, I would like to remove Ubuntu, and install Windows XP Pro and then set-up Ubuntu in order to be able to dual-boot. But, I am not quite sure how to remove Ubuntu and then install Windows XP Pro. So, how would I go about removing Ubuntu and setting-up the Win XP Pro installation?

I did the exact same thing you want to do, no joke. Here's my set up:

160 gig = Windows xp

40 gig = Linux Unbuntu

I just installed windows xp like normal on the 160 gig drive and then installed linux to the 40 gig and it did a dual boot automatically. Except my linux OS is the primary operating system. Any one know how to make windows the primary one?

BigK - just edit your etc/grub.conf and change the default to Whichever OS you want.

tomiboi - Simply install Windows, then see
http://www.shahidhussain.com/wordpress/index.php?p=33

After that, just add an entry for your Windows partition to grub.conf and reload grub.

I apologies for asking this, but where do I find the file?

You may find the grub.conf file in the /etc directory, i.e. /etc/grub.conf. What you have to know is that with an installed LInux, the /etc/grub.conf file may be a symbolically linked file to /boot/grub/grub.conf - check it out on your installed Ubuntu.

If its not there, cd to '/' directory, and run the command: find . -xdev -name "grub.conf" -print
Note: the '.' spaced between the find and -name to indicate the '/' or current directory from which to run the command. The -xdev parameter will decline to search other file systems that are mounted.
