Hi everyone,

are there limitation of how many users can access a machine running Fedora core 6 and samba.
I am just getting my feet wet on linux so much to learn.

The number you are seeking may be limited by either the number of accounts or machine resources available at any one time. For instance, it is only possible to run so many processes in a computer OS which may be limited by the size of one or more of its internal tables as to how many logins it accepts at any one time.

In general, the maximum number of logins is probably the best guide for your question. However, you did ask about access which may be more related to the notion of whether enough system resources are available to handle the load.

Heavy usage, as with many users, probably causes a higher wait time for service for most of the users. Lower wait times occur during periods of low usage and high availability of resources.

For all intents and purposes, FC6 is a general purpose OS, and can safely be assumed to support hundreds of users, i.e. given a large enough RAM (greater than 1GB, and probably about 4GB - the more the better as memory is cheap).
