NSCD (Thunderbird) service errors. This isn't so much as a Thunderbird error as the title says, but here is what is going on.
Thunderbird icons and launchers are not active after boot. They do not display error messages, they just simply don't work. In order for me to use Tbird, I must go into Yast, choose System, System Services (runlevel), and enable the NSCD service. It throws an error which is actually irrelevant to the solution. After I close the error down, Tbird works properly.
Now what I want to do is what should have been done in the forst place. Set my NSCD service to run in init 5, and boot up automatically. When I do this, I am given this error message:
ERROR: failed services. susefirewall_init, susefirewall2_setup, boot.cleanup, boot.clock, boot.loadmodules, boot.localfs, boot.local, boot.proc, boot.udev, dbud, haldaemon, net.
I am operating on OpenSuse 10.1.
The things I have tried to solve the problem:
Re image the machine - failed.
Replace the machine - failed.
I have now come to the conclusion that the problem is in the user profile, which is running on LDAP, and home directories stored using NFS.
If you need any more info please let me know, and I am really grateful for the advice youg uys always give. You have helped me many times, and I am a frequent donator when the dept. budget is loose.
Thanks again guys. |
