Exclamation printer installing
I have been trying to install my USB connected HP PSC 1315xi all-in-one for days now. I'm running Linspire 5.59.0 on a Gateway GP7-500 system.

I've tried add the printer thru the add printer wizard, I've tried to add printer thru the CUPS local.631 way and still can not get the test page to print.

I've downloaded several programs from CNR; but don't know know how to run them or configure them. build-essential; gs-esp; libcupsys2; libjpeg62-dev; libsnmp5-dev; libusb-dev; openssl, python-dev; python-gt3-gl; python-reportlab;snae-y=utils; xsane.

I am a beginner at this though I was a tech support for Windows NT and 2000. Step by step directions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Is the printer connected to the computer and powered on when trying to use the "Add Printer" wizard?
I just added my printer about a week ago, but I honestly can't remember if it did a test page (PSC1610).
It works though.
By default, CUPS is not started on PCLinuxOS, as it can be a security hole I believe the message says.
When I want to print something, I start it. Gives option to start CUPS at start-up if you want.

My printer is connected and the system sees it. this is whaat I get when trying to print a test page,

cupsdoprint -P 'HPPSC1315xi' -J 'KDE Print Test' -H 'localhost:631' -U 'root' -o ' multiple-document-handling=separate-documents-uncollated-copies orientation-requested=3' '/usr/share/apps/kdeprint/testprint.ps' : execution failed with message:
