I'm frequently having a problem installing software. After a reboot, the first RPM that I try to install works but the next time I try to install something I get a message that "another process is using the package database." I've looked at the process list and I can't find anything running that looks obvious. This is quite irritating. Thanks for the help.

SUSE 10.2 I think has a automatic updater which runs in the background to check for any available updates recommended. That may be what is going on with your system.
