Downgrade Wine?
I'm using Wine 0.9.33, and there's a bug that's been around since after 0.9.27 that makes Deus Ex unplayable. How can I downgrade to an earlier version?

Hi MathBluster,

Welcome to TSG!

I'm not sure how to downgrade, but it would definitely involve obtaining the previous release you want/need. I would Google for it: Wine release 0.9.27
or something like that. If its out there, google should find it for you.

One thing I have always done with any 3rd party software is to keep a separate archive for all of the releases I download - which would have been handy to you in this case had you adopted such a procedure.

After you get the issue sorted out, or even now, you should send an email to the Wine developers to alert them of the problem - perhaps they could help and then fix the problem as well. If you can't find the release you are looking for, the Wine developers should have it archived, and be able to help in that regard - if their mindset is attuned to users.

Sometimes, especially for products that cost money (luckily Wine doesn't), vendors will reward you with a new product license for helping them solve a problem. I was once so rewarded.

Gook luck,

-- Tom
