Installing LAMP On Ubuntu For Newbies
LAMP stands for Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP. The guide is intended to help those who have very little knowledge of using Linux.

Here.

Depending on what kind of newbie you are, you might want to try a server install of Ubuntu. Apache, MySQL and PHP are already configured to work well together. Just a thought.

The link Tom provided is really useful, too.

Hi saikee,

Back at you saikee - you never cease to amaze me with you analysis of dual-boot and grub situations in your posts here at TSG! You are indeed the Grub boot master - bow - bow - bow!

People gotta learn, and anything that looks the least bit tutorial in nature and is intelligible has a good chance of being posted after I search for thread titles on the topic in the forum. Lately, I've been able to cover more ground on the WWW with the use of RSS feeds, unfortunately, not all websites syndicate themselves which necessitate a visit to that website.

Hi playme123,

The components of LAMP suggest those components useful in constructing a new website for various uses - business, blogging, forums, etc. The key is to recognize that Apache means you are building a Web server, MySQL a database perhaps to hold dynamic webpages or company/product information, and PHP for the construction of a forum.

Followup by going to Wikipedia and search for those terms (Apache, Mysql, Php).
