USB External Modem
I currently have a Winmodem in my home machine and have been unsuccessful in getting it to work in Linux. Various articles all state that hardware modems usuually work but the only ones available locally are USB modems. Do they work as well without a lot of tweaking?

Yes usb modem works great on linux.Im running a usb modem for dial-up internet I have an external modem 56k Actiontec no drivers require to run on linux, im using gnome for dialer internet service provide is peoplepc
