Can't access Ubuntu shares from XP Home
When I try to access My Samba server from XP home, I get "You may not have access rights".
I've managed this in other versions of Linux with SWAT, but that doesn't seem to be an option in Ubuntu )7.04).
I know I have shared folders, so what's the right way to access samba shares from XP?

Are you between a firewall? Can you telnet to the ports that samba uses from the windows host?

are the 2 hosts on the internet or in a private lan?

Do the files that you are trying to share have the permissions to do so ?
