DSL and Solaris 8
I have a solaris 8 server and will be connecting a DSL line from Speakeasy. Besides the IP information, is there anything that needs to be configured or installed for communication to occur?

Thanks

Hi csross,

Does your server have a NIC (network interface card)? Will your server be available via a router that connects to a LAN - i.e. will it be on a LAN inside a hardware firewall?

Have you minimized/stopped the services that are not needed from running on your server at bootup?

What security considerations have you given to putting your server onto the Internet?

You may want to ask the Moderators to move this thread over to the Networking forum - click on white-red triangle in upper-right-hand corner of your post and ask them.
