ndiswrapper in Debian
Reinstalled Debian last night, and it's been kicking my butt with wireless - as per usual.

I've got a Dell Truemobile 1300 (Broadcom 43xx) wireless card, and have installed ndiswrapper via Synaptec Package Manager. So far things seemed to be working right, and when i installed the .inf file, it would force a parameter and say it had installed successfully. Next, ndiswrapper -l would show it as listed, so i did ndiswrapper -m to write the module in.

Writing the module in worked as far as i could tell, but then i discovered via lsmod and browsing the file system that it was not there. In the /etc/modprobe.d/ folder there is a ndiswrapper module configured that has this information:
Code:
debian:/etc/modprobe.d# cat ndiswrapper
install pci:v000014E4d00004301sv000012F3sd0000103Cbc*sc*i* /sbin/modprobe ndiswrapper
install pci:v000014E4d00004301sv*sd*bc*sc*i* /sbin/modprobe ndiswrapper
install pci:v000014E4d00004320sv000000E7sd00000E11bc*sc*i* /sbin/modprobe ndiswrapper
install pci:v000014E4d00004320sv000012F4sd0000103Cbc*sc*i* /sbin/modprobe ndiswrapper
install pci:v000014E4d00004320sv*sd*bc*sc*i* /sbin/modprobe ndiswrapper
alias wlan0 ndiswrapper
debian:/etc/modprobe.d#
But it the OS still doesn't seem to recognize that anywhere else. I've browsed all over my file system trying to find ndiswrapper.ko to manually insert it, but as far as i can tell that file does not exist yet -- even after using apt-get to install the ndiswrapper-source.

Anyone have any ideas or pointers of what i should do next? Cheers

Edit - oh, and i'm running a fresh net install of Debian 10.2

See this thread.

Even though you are running Debian, Ubuntu and Debian are very closely related, and you should try the method in the referenced link in the thread above.

Alright, things have gone from bad to worse. I did not have the referenced ndisgtk package in my repositories list, so i added the testing & unstable repositories lists. From there, it all went downhill. Now, whenever i try to run either apt-get or Synaptec package manager, i run into this error:
Code:
Reading package lists... Error!
E: Dynamic MMap ran out of room
E: Dynamic MMap ran out of room
E: Error occurred while processing libnautilus-burn3 (NewVersion1)
E: Problem with MergeList /var/lib/dpkg/status
E: The package lists or status file could not be parsed or opened.
I have tried the solutions in this thread that seemed to work so well for others, but no such luck for me.

So in the long run, i've broken apt-get, and i'm still reduced to sitting wedged in the only corner of my apartment where a cable can reach from the router in the basement Any help is much appreciated
