OFFTOPIC: Start-up Linux Forum Needs Some Help...
I frequent a pretty nice Linux related forum run by BigBearOmaha. It's called Linux Geeks United. BigBear is a bit disappointed that the forum hasn't taken off as he feels it has the potential to do. As any of you who've started a forum (on any topic) know, it's a slow process to build a forum.

My suggestion to BigBear was to not close the forum down just yet. Leave it open and see if the existing members could recruit a few folks from the other favorite forums. The Linux Community is all about helping and sharing. We have some talented and very smart folks coming through here.

If any of you are surfing one night and would like to just pop in over at LGU and say hello, click on THIS LINK that will take you directly to the forum. Forum junkies always have time for at least one more forum, and that's doubly true for Linux folks.

Thanks,

~Eric

Oh, tell 'em Eric sent you...

Linux has its ups and downs when it comes to popularity. We had a pretty strong User Group where I live a few years back. It almost completely died out and the website was even down for many months. But eventually someone picked up the cause again and starting having month meetings again. We kind of combined it with another city 30 miles away.

There are so many well established Linux forums that have come and gone. It is hard to Unite Linux geeks because they all feel very strong about the version of linux they use. I have always liked Red Hat and tried switching to SuSe but I just didn't like it.

Yup! I know what you mean, Squashman. This reminds me of the old Mad Penguin forums... very popular at one time. Now it's just a spot for spammers to post these days.

Yup. BigBear puts a lot of time and effort into it. He'll appreciate any and all of your input.

See you there...
