Linux compatible printer
What kind of printer do you guys use on your Linux box?
How did the install go - any problems?
If you were going to buy your grandkids a new printer (within reason of course) what kind would it be?
They run Mint and Elive Gem.

Printer? Hp deskjet 840c
I run Ubuntu which is what Mint was derived from and I had no problems installing it. It is so much easier than windows.
Not so sure about the last question. But I would suggest getting something basic that just prints unless they need more functionality.

Thanks guys,
after a little research I discovered that Epson is really supported and it seems that HP is coming on strong. In fact, shutting down both Mint and Elive I see a line of code saying something like 'Closing HP printer system'.
I found this http://hplip.sourceforge.net/support...ces/index.html site for HP
Of course, now my wife has weighed in and it looks like I'm going to spend closer to $200 bucks instead of the $70 or so I initially thought.
Oh well, just another day in Paradise...
