How much RAM does the laptop have?
How big is the Hard Drive?
Do you want to run JUST Linux, or Windows and Linux?

There is e.g. "Installing Ubuntu on a machine with no CDROM drive" at http://efod.se/blog/archive/2006/11/...no-cdrom-drive but it needs at least 256Mb of RAM.

Is there anyway to do this by using a jump drive? Any suggestions would be great. I really just want to get it up and running again.
