Should I be able to use...
Hi all,
I'm brand new to Linux.
I was just wondering, should I be able to use my internet connection and printer while running the ubunto live CD?

Thanks much.

Hi brillser,

You will have to configure your network connection be it (dialup, dsl, cable, FiOS), and you will also have to configure your printer. Then you should be able to use them.

Search for the Ubuntu wiki starter guide for the version of Ubuntu you have, e.g Ubuntu Gutsy Starter Guide, aka "ubuntuguide.org/wiki/Ubuntu:Gutsy". So, if you have Hardy replace Gutsy with Hardy in the location bar of Firefox.

If the Hardy Guide is not yet developed, try the Gutsy guide for advice on the setup of both your network connection and printer.

Thanks kindly for your reply, Lotuseclat79.
It's a beta version, in between gusty and hardy. I got it from a linux mag. I'm also wondering about that, should an idiot like me be using it at all?
Still, I only us it to read the help section and play the chess game for the now.
I'll wait till I get my hands on the 8.04 before I contemplate installation.
I'l also take your sound advice and thanks again.

brillser.
