Ubuntu 7.10
Does anyone know if I were to partition my WinXP OS could I install Ubuntu 7.10 on that partition.

Use Gparted. It is the easiest way to create a partition (create ext3 for a ubuntu file system)

The installation CD can create a partition for you, or you can manually create one during the setup.

Yes. This all happens during the installation, if you choose it.

But for the sake of your data, and your own sanity, always make a system backup before you undertake any major operation such as this.
