Unable to complere Ubuntu 8 install!
Hello gents! I posted earlier about having an error booting with the cd but I upgraded my burner and was able to get to the Ubuntu bootscreen. Sadly I was not able to get much farther!

When I attempted to install i got the first status bar. It then opened up to a command prompt with some statement about "sudo" and "sudo <command>" and "sudo -i" I started to do some research and decided I should come here before trying to play around. I never got to the actual install section!

When i tried booting on the CD it began to load and then I got anther screen on configuring graphic settings. I have tried every less combination but I only get get 4 strings of data and then is just stops with a random blinking cursor!

I tried installing PC Linux which i had just removed and guess what!... Now it won't install. I get a fatal graphic configuration error!!!

Anyway I'm running an 8600 gt

If you could give me any notion on how to proceed that would be great!

There is not much information to go on here - could you list your computer specifications; make and model, CPU, ram, laptop/desktop, 32 or 64 bit etc.

Well lets see.

I built it about 8 months ago

C2D 6550

Gigabyte DS3R

2 Gigs of Corsair 800

MSI 8600 GT

I'm running two seagate hardrives: 160+80 GB

I not sure if that will help?

The main problem is that I don't know the Sudo commands. All this root user crap makes me think there's something screwed up with the install proccess!
