installing mandrake 8.2
Hi i\'m trying to install mandrake 8.2 on my vaio laptop p3 600mhz 256 mb ram. I\'m using the iso images from the linux-mandrake.com website. The main part of the installation looks like it goes fine untill i get to the boot loader and then it says \"an error occured\" \"xfree86-rpm not found\" is this because I cancelled the installation from the second installation disk? I get more errors if i use the second install disk also.

Anyway If i click ok there it seems to be ok untill I run startx and then it gives me other errors saying error no2 cannoot connect to server and etc.. What would you recommend that I do ?

I'd suggest generating the md5 checksums for each iso you downloaded and compare those with the ones posted at the Mandrake site. You could easily have corrupt image files. If any sums don't match, you'll need to re-download that image and burn an new CD. Also, the xfree86-rpm file is the X window system; if this file is missing, you won't be able to run X.

Hope this helps.
