I have a second machine that is running w2k would like to load redhat what do i do about a dual boot machine? also any other sugestions on a rookie loading this program

Check out www.linuxnewbie.org -- lots of good info, plenty of helpful folks. What you want to do is definitely doable, but you'll need to make a few decisions first. This site is a good place to figure out what's going on.
