Angry Modem Blues
Ive recently installed SuSe linux 8 on my Sharpe laptop, the laptop has a Winmodem and after carefull research i decided not to try and get it to work with Linux. I dont have a serial port on the laptop but i do have USB. I purchased a Jetway USB modem but can find no drivers to support linux. Can anyone please tell me where i can get drivers which will work for this modem,or recomend a USB modem which will work Linux and which is available in the UK. PLEASE HELP THIS LINUX NEWBEE.

Try searching on google using linux, USB and modem as keywords (single search, 3 keywords). You should find at least half a dozen references, including this one: http://www.linux-usb.org/USB-guide/book1.html. You'll likely have to check with SuSe for hardware compatability, however.

Hope this helps.
