Just read thread on Knoppix linux,runs from cd!! Thats right it runs from CD no partition or install. Sound too good to be true here's link to Anand tech forum.

I have terrible dial up so I'll have to purhase CD from Cheap Byte

SuSE has a decent demo,too. It's the only iso they let you dl for free .

Well I got my Knoppix CD its pretty cool seems to work fine. But doesnt like my USR modem on com 5. Theres a few games that didn't seem to work 100%. But I was surprised at how simple it can be to run linux!
Just change 2 items in BIOS
1) enable cd to boot
2) set to OS not to control pnp
Put in CD and you'll know if your hardware is LINUX compatible!
Then you'll be greeted by a powerful LINUX OS with lots of bells and whistles. Its a great first ever linux, want to try linux but partitioning sounds like a hassle try Knoppix.
